I'm new to Dreamwidth and this community seems really cool! I probably won't try to fully catch up, but I'll share a few of my recipes that fit with past themes. Just a warning, though, I don't really keep track of measurements.

  • [#1 - Apples] Apple chutney
  • [#8 - Citrus fruit] Orange-pepper chicken
  • [#15 - Oats] Cereal bars

Apple Chutney

"Like cranberry sauce, but with apples." Although it goes better with pork or salads than with turkey.

  • apples (I've used honeycrisp and red delicious, any kind could work)
  • vinegar (preferably apple cider-flavored)
  • brown sugar
  • honey
  • spices (such as nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, whatever you want)

Dice the apples and put them in a mixing bowl. Coat with brown sugar and honey, and add spices. Transfer to mason jars, add vinegar until covered, tightly screw the lid on, and shake!

Orange-pepper chicken

A pretty simple recipe, and probably not "authentic" by any means.

  • 1.5 - 2 lbs chicken breast
  • 3 - 4 mandarin oranges
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Soy sauce
  • 2 - 3 bell peppers

Juice the oranges. Combine juice with brown sugar and add a good splash of soy sauce. Cut the chicken into strips and marinate.

Cook the chicken and sauce in a large pan over medium-high heat. Meanwhile, chop the peppers. Add them before the chicken is done, and continue cooking until the sauce has thickened.

Cereal bars

These are seriously so good? They melt kind of easily, though, so keep them refrigerated.

  • Multigrain Cheerios
  • chocolate granola
  • chopped cashews
  • honey
  • Nutella

Mix together about 2 parts Cheerios and 2 parts granola to 1 part cashews. Coat with honey, and add Nutella until it becomes slightly difficult to stir. Cover a baking sheet with wax paper and spread flat. Refrigerate for a few hours, then cut into bars and keep them in a food storage bag or container.

I can't have chocolate, but those cereal bars sound like something my daughter would LOVE.
