The leftovers I had were some garlic thyme chicken thighs (need to use up my meat before veggie January!) I made in my pressure cooker and some butternut squash sticks I roasted in the oven with some maple syrup. I added in mushrooms, snow peas, soy sauce and sesame oil and topped it off with some toasted sesame seeds. Turned out fabulous

Snap peas/Sugar snap peas = close looking to English peas but you can eat them pod and all
Snow peas = almost flat and used primarily in Chinese recipes and you eat the whole pea every time

... and then there's all the types of dried peas (main use for which, afaict, is being put in referrees' whistles - my dad used to swear by the Acme Thunderer).

I've not heard the term "marrowfat peas" but looking it up, the only versions I generally see them in here is either made into dried wasabi peas or used for split peas - which I intend to make a nice soup with the ones I have soon.
We don't doooo mushy peas - because yuck lol

Date: Friday, December 29th, 2017 01:35 pm (UTC)Whereas you guys use not just Italian veg names, but Sicilian veg names (c.f. arugula, which everybody in the world except for you and Sicily calls rocket). I think this is because you're all secretly still Mafiosi.
ETA: and yeah, mushy peas are DISGUSTING and it's a constant source of shame to me that they are part of a famous Yorkshire dish.
