Challenge #28: Cake

Today has not been a good day for me, folks.

Give me cake. Lots and lots of cake. Will accept mug cakes and buns and fairy cakes and things as well. Just sweet, sweet carby goodness, please.

Oh God, I'm sorry, I didn't realise!

Is pie close enough to cake to count? This is the recipe for shoo-fly pie (a speciality where my inlaws live) I use. It's like a combination of treacle tart and a crumble, and the filling is quite cakey. I use butter as the 'shortening.'

It's really good and pretty easy. Admittedly it's quite hard to avoid the bottom going soggy and melding into the filling, but conveniently this is not regarded as a fault in Pennsylavania.
