Yes, Dakry purposefully spelt the Nanny Ogg way, partly because this is a bit too far from the traditional daiquiri recipe for me to call it that in all good conscience. This serves one, but can be easily scaled up with a little modification.

You will need:
  • A cocktail shaker
  • A sieve
  • A wooden spoon
  • A citrus juicer
  • A glass to drink out of - I prefer a coupe, but you can use one of those stupid spilly cocktail glasses if you like. Or a wine glass. Or even a snifter. Something with a stem so you can hold it by the stem and not warm the drink with your hand is the important point.
  • A saucer wider in diameter than the diameter of the rim of your glass
  • Some ice
  • Some raspberries - 10 or 12, depending on size, use your judgement.
  • A lime
  • Some rum
  • Some Chambord (or other raspberry liqeueueueueuer)
  • Some sugar

Method:
  • Pour a thin layer of sugar onto the saucer.
  • Juice the lime and put the juice into the cocktail shaker, then rub the lime corpse around the rim of the glass, then dip the glass in the saucer of sugar. I refuse to call this "rimming".
  • Push the raspberries through the sieve with the wooden spoon into the cocktail shaker, then wash the sieve.
  • Add half a teaspoon of the sugar from the plate, 15ml of chambord, 60ml of rum, and a lot of ice to the shaker.
  • Shake till the shaker frosts over, then strain through your nice clean sieve into the drinking glass.
  • Enjoy!
The sugar can be upped or downed depending on the sweetness of the raspberries and the acidity of the lime - adjust to taste.

My kids are currently all about smoothies and slushies and the like -- anything that can be made using the thermomix and frozen Stuff.

They made for me raspberry softserve not quite ice-cream, and it was glorious.

Ingredients:
Peel and freeze bananas. This is better if they are heading towards soft, but not yet squishy (save those ones for baking).
Frozen berries. We bought ours pre-frozen at the local supermarket. We had raspberries, but any tart fruit would go nicely.

Equipment:
Blender or equivalent (I haven't tried this with a stick blender, but presumably it would work if you could get things moving?)

Process:
Put roughly equal amounts* (by weight or volume) of frozen banana and berries into blending device**, blend until smooth. Serve in cup or bowl. While this will refreeze, it isn't as nice unless you stir it repeatedly while it freezes.

* I think we do 3/4 cup of unblended fruit per person, taste, and then add either more banana or more berries, depending on taste. But I'm inclined to just look at how much I've got, and chuck some in.
** We have a Thermomix, so we use a Thermomix. But I used to do the same thing when I had a standalone blender, so as long as your blender can deal with the frozen nature of the fruit, you should be fine.

Ford Prefect said: ‘I bought some peanuts.’
Arthur Dent moved, and groaned again, muttering incoherently.
'Here, have some,’ urged Ford, shaking the packet again, ‘if you’ve never been through a matter transference beam before you’ve probably lost some salt and protein. The beer you had should have cushioned your system a bit.’

For this challenge (which I LOVE, by the way), I took inspiration from the bit quoted above from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I largely followed this recipe from Jack Monroe for Beery Berry Crumble, but I did 50g oats and 50g crushed salted peanuts in the crumble (I roughly crushed the peanuts using a pestle and mortar). The texture and slight saltiness of the peanuts worked really well with the beery fruit. :)

I used dark muscavado sugar in the fruit mixture and white caster sugar in the crumble (as that's what I had in), but in my experience with crumbles golden caster sugar works really well in crumbles too.

A crumble fit for eating after going through a matter transference beam. :)

So it was Burns' Night on Monday, and we went the whole sheep's intestine.

Main course was Haggis, Neeps 'n' Tatties, and Leeks )

Pudding was a bit more interesting, so you're going to get the full recipe for that.
